Soi Day Night used to be a thriving and bustling part of the gay scene a few years ago. However, now it has suffered from many businesses closing, most recently the Flamingo Hotel, a stalwart in the corner of the Soi. However there are a few nice restaurants there and a couple of good massage places, so I will devote just one page to the area and hope you forgive me until it regenerates itself a little.
Mushroom Restaurant
CURRENTLY CLOSED
Googies was one of the stalwarts of Soi Day Night, until it closed in December. It now has re-opened under the name "Mushroom restaruant". It still does the Irish food and a good breakfast, but it's not a patch on the old place in my opinion.
Nice friendly boys and reasonably priced drinks. More a host bar than a nightclub, but you never know really what you'll get here. Fun and worth popping in to! Quite small but that's not a problem as good things come in small packages!
Used to be a ladyboy nightclub until April, but now has boys dancing on podiums. It's a nice layout with three podia, each with a pole. There were two boys on each podium and they stood there while I had my drink. A total of 11 boys were working in the bar and a good selection of ages and types. Had a lot of fun in here. Should do well!
Great French and Thai cuisine at a reasonable price. Has an extensive menu plus daily specials at budget prices. Well worth popping in and checking out the board at the front. However, just not quite up to the standard of the others around it, so perhaps I've been a bit harsh with my rating, but give it a try and see. Some people I know really rave over it.
Nice French Restaurant with some great daily specials from around 300 Baht. Reasonable price and normally very good food. I used to go there often. Downsides? Last time I went there I have the tuna steak - however this turned out to be a tuna burger. It was badly overcooked and rubbery. Sorry, but when the owner asked me how the food was and I told him, he argued and even brought out the pack of raw tuna. yes the label said tuna steak, but ... This was definitely not up to their normal standard.
The Luxor is owned by a man called Bruno. I know many people who rate it very highly. It used to be the case that you had to book a long time in advance to get a table, but now (alas) there are far too many vacant seats. Shame as the food is good and although upmarket, not a bad price for what you get. Tasteful decor and gourmet food.
JUST opened. I haven't had a chance to dine there, but the menu looks OK if a little expensive. The decor on the other hand ... I won't say any more. Go and have a look!
A great massage house which has been there a long time. Friendly staff outside beckon you in and once inside they give a good service. Clean rooms and good facilities. I especially love the foam massage for 500 Baht. It's amazing where the boys can get the foam! I can recommend Rico (number 33) as being particularly adept at that!
Now open with a good menu and resonable service. The only criticism I have heard is that it's a little pretentious and a tad over priced, but it has a good selection of food and it's well done. Worth a try when you have a full wallet.
Good French Restaurant in the medium price range. Service isn't the best (a little slow and a little un-attentive), but the food is good and the waiters are cute (or they were last time I was in there). Good value for money. (Closed Wednesdays)
This place gets very mixed reviews. Some people rave over it and say it's the best in Pattaya. Others think it's the worst and should be closed down! Personally I like it and have had some good times here. Go on, give it a try, and then let me know what YOU think!
Literally "The Flower House". A nice gay owned guesthouse in the heart of the area. The rooms are from 750 Baht a night and this goes up in the high season, but it's good value for money and a nice venue. If you're looking for accommodation, this certainly would be one I'd try. It also has a nice clean cafe downstairs with a good range of cheap food.
A plain ordinary and unpretentious cafe, and all the better for that. Open 24 hours (a boon for early risers who want a breakfast), and it does a nice coffee. I understand it has free wi-fi for diners. Well worth trying. Cheap and cheerful and you get better than you pay for! Clean and nice.
Nice large nightclub just down the road from J.J. Karaoke. When I sent in there were about 20 boys there, in nice satin underwear. They were standing around and having fun. The place has a number of very comfy white sofas and has a good feel to it. More a "Boyztown" nightclub than a Sunee Plaza one, but worth a look. Drinks reasonably priced.
