Fancy a bit of British Pub Grub? How about some British Beer? Try the Pig & Whistle. It’s located in Second Road Soi 7, right among all the girly bars, but don’t let that put you off. Their website is full of claims and as far as I know they are all true. They certainly make their own sausages and they are delicious. They claim to serve “probably the best fish and chips in Pattaya” and for all I know this is true too. To quote from their website:
“The Pig And Whistle is a gorgeous traditional British pub with a warm and friendly atmosphere. We’re located right in the heart of Central Pattaya with all its vibrant night life.
“As well as a wide selection of draft ales and ciders, we serve the finest food in generous portions, all homemade on the premises.
“The Pig And Whistle also offers quality accommodation with everything you need for your stay in Pattaya.”

So what’s good here? First the décor. It really is an old fashioned British pub. The waitresses are Thai, but everything else is English. To my taste the one thing that spoils it are the flat screen TVs everywhere blaring out sports, but there is a back dining room where you can avoid them, and the smaller tables by the front window aren’t bothered by them either.

The food. Yes that’s why we’re reviewing the place. It is good. Let’s start with the breakfast. It’s legendary. The super breakfast, while not being cheap is HUGE! And it’s all just about perfect. There’s a small argument to say the sausages are too spicy, but that’s purely personal taste. As for the main meals, check out the daily specials. Friday has the fish and chips. If they were wrapped in newspaper instead of being served on china they’d be totally authentic. And on Sunday there’s the Sunday roast. The best Yorkshire pudding in Pattaya and a good feast of a roast dinner. I can’t say too much about the desserts – I’ve never had room to try one, but they sound wonderful.

Do I like it – YES! Would I go there every day? No, or I’d weight 25 stones. But as a fattening treat it’s wonderful.
