17/02/12 We’ve just been told about a gay friendly resort in Cha Am – Baan Talay Samran. Situated between Hau Hin and Bangkok, this is one worth putting on the list. It’s not new, just new to us. Read what we said here.
WHOO HOO! After too long a wait, we have finally finished work on Nicky’s final website. www.NickysGayPhuket.com has been completed and PLEASE go along and have a look at it! There’s a special section on Phuket Pride as well as the usual directory listings, a completely new map of the Paradise Complex, and all our usual features. We’re working in conjunction with a nice man at Backstage Purple, who has supplied a lot of the information for the area. Thanks!
So now the Nicky’s sites are complete. We’ve covered Pattaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Koh Samui and Phuket, with a page on other venues we know about in the rest of Thailand.
I hope these sites prove useful to you
21/11/11 Two changes from our friend in Hua Hin. Casanova Bar has closed. The owner has disappeared! Rainbow bar has gone from being gay, to gay-friendly to a girly bar. Shame. Hua Hin was becoming a nice little gay haven. Still, we generally find when one bar closes …
14/11/11 Hua Hin is a small town, with only a few gay bars, but if you don’t know where they are it can be confusing. We have a great contact in the area called Tim, who is not only providing details of the bars and their parties, he has just made a Google map for the place. You can see it here, but we have also embedded it in our website here. Thanks for the help Tim.
27/08/11 We hear that the Immigration authorities are getting stricter again. We have heard that one year multiple entry “O” Visas have been discontinued in England. You can now only get 6 monthly ones. We also hear the requirements for the 60 day Tourist Visa have been ramped up. You now need copies of a Hotel reservation showing your check-in and -out dates and also a copy of your airline ticket showing your onward travel out of Thailand. There currently appears to be no change to the misleading named “Visa on arrival” rules. Maybe this will herald the start of an even greater clampdown. Watch this space for news as we receive it.
UPDATE – there is a lot of confusion over the new Visa requirements. Some places are requiring some things, others different things. My best advice is check before you apply for the current requirements at the place you are applying. When/if the requirements settle down, I’ll try to post some clarification.
09/08/11 We have the news now from the Immigration Office that there are new regulations for people wanting to make 90 day reports. Instead of just the simple form, you now need the following:
Proof of your address (utility bill, copy of lease etc)
Photocopies of all the relevant pages of your passport (picture page, visa, entry stamp, departure card, etc)
This is immediate with effect from today in the Pattaya Office – we know people who have been there today and had to show this. There was some talk that people would be given notice. This appears not to be the case (at least in Pattaya anyway).
07/07/11 There’s a new gay-friendly bar in Udon Thani. Croc’s Nightclub is open and alive for business. You can best read all about them on their website here. crocsnightclubudonthani.com. It’s just across the street from Mr Tong’s and doing really well. If you’re in Udon check it out!
02/07/11 A good friend of ours who runs the Cambodia Out website has just completely rebuilt it and expanded it’s coverage. It now covers Thailand, Laos, Bali, Vietnam as well as (of course) Cambodia. Pop over there and have a look!Click here – www.cambodiaout.com
