lek buffetSituated on Second road, opposite The Avenue shopping centre, is a “secret”. OK it’s been going since 1997, and has had a packed crowd every night, but it’s still a secret. Not too many newcomers to Pattaya know about it and it’s a shame. The old established regulars say “Don’t go there, it’s cheap rubbish” which, quite frankly, in my opinion, is unjustified.

The Lek Hotel does a cheap “all-you-can-eat” buffet for breakfast and for dinner. Currently the breakfast costs just 110B and the dinner 180B, although on May 15th this goes up to 150B and 250B respectively.

The food is good. It’s not great, but then for the price what do you expect! They advertise a 30m long buffet table and I’m sure this is right. You sit by the pool, or under their open-sided roof and enjoy. The drinks are really cheap as well. You buy a ticket when you go in and pay for your drinks when they are brought to you table.

The breakfast (available from 07.00 to 13.00) includes a salad bar, breads, cereal, seasonal fresh fruit, freshly made Danish (by their bakery), a variety of eggs, meats, such as bacon and sausages, yam yam, tasty thai food, a variety of breads, cake, coffee and fresh juice.

The dinner (available from 18.00 – 22.00) includes soup of the day, starters, salad bar, a selection of 3 or 4 main dishes with vegetables and potato, pasta bar, BBQ, Thai dishes, hot and spicy Thai plates, fruit salad, cakes, seasonal fresh fruit – you get the picture.

Downsides? Not many. The atmosphere is a bit “canteen like”, although if you sit out by the pool that’s mitigated. Apart from that I can’t think of any!

We often say it’s the best value for money buffet around. Not the best quality, but if you’re really hungry go along!

They have an old, out of date website at lekhotel.tripod.com where you can read more and see more pictures.
