What a lovely place! It was most unexpected when we came across it. Run by Gilles and Anon, a lovely couple, this bistro is tucked away and hard to find. It’s on Soi Paniad Chang, the road that runs down the side of the old Carrefour in Pattaya Klang, 1.4 km along the road. It’s on the junction of soi 2, on the left. Not too hard to find when you know where it is.
The food is wonderful. We had a variety of dishes. One of us had the set menu. The choice of moules was OK. The portion a little small, but there was a lot of food to follow. The flavour however couldn’t be beaten. Following true to form we chose the bavette. This was excellent. Perfectly cooked and one wonders how they keep it on the menu. It tasted as if it had been slow cooked for hours, yet that seems unlikely. Great flavour, great tenderness and left a feeling of wanting more. Although the stomach was beginning to say “full”. The Crème Choco-Methe did little tangos with the taste buds and ended a wonderful meal. AND this was under 300B. Value that can’t be beaten.

2 of us tried the Lobster special. You have to book this and I understand why. It was amazing. I’ve had lobster specials before at 500B in a different Pattaya restaurant, and that was interesting. This was every bit as good and at 295B such value for money. The starter is an “exotic” salad. Very exotic and set the palette up nicely. The main course was melt-in-the-mouth wateringly wonderful. (Are there enough mixed adjectives there for you?). The description on the menu translates to “crickets”. We were slightly curious what we’d get, but it was two Rock Lobster tails each thermidor, 2 provençale style and two mayonnaise. Well presented and well cooked it was a feast.
Drinks are the right price too. So all in all a nice evening. To cap it all, the owner Gilles made us feel very welcome. We will be going back. They have a full a la carte menu with some interesting dishes on it that we want to try, not least the Steamed Fresh Salmon in Basil, Potato Galette and Tomato Coulis (380B) and the Beef Wellington at the same price. Try it for yourself and let us know what you thought.
