Walk down Soi V.C. – remember that’s the one that leads to Sunee Plaza. Pass Sunee Plaza, pass the road that leads to Monty’s and pass the Famous Bar (lady boy bar) on the right. Immediately on the left is a structure known locally as “the cage”. It houses a number of motorbike taxi drivers (although now-a-days they tend to sit outside in the soi. However they aren’t of interest to us. The other occupant of the cage, is a wonderful lady, who has become a fixture of the area. She is the burger lady. She does have a name (and I know it) but the romance is in the name “Burger lady”. And that is what she does. Cooks the best burgers for miles around (IMHO)

Her stall opens at around 7pm and stays open until the very small hours of the morning. Her smile is beaming and her burgers are tasty. It’s probably the cleanest stall in Pattaya. Go there and watch her cook a fresh order for you. She’s always scraping and cleaning the grill. It’s a lesson in OCD! She does a brilliant cheeseburger and chips for under 140B and her spring rolls and chips are less than 100B. Her bacon burgers are to die for.

There are even regulars who have “double burger, double bacon and triple cheese burgers” but these are a rarity. My waistline wouldn’t like that on anything like a regular basis. Watch as she piles the lettuce and tomato inside. The “patter” calls for the “you want vitamins?” question.

Apart from sitting and watching your burger being freshly cooked, it’s a great place to sit and watch the traffic in the soi. At 2 am there are all sorts walking past, and who knows what you might spy!

Anyway. It’s a feature of the area you don’t want to miss. For that late night snack it’s the perfect place.

The burger stall – soi V.C. – one of Nicky’s favourites!
