Well, this is a change around. Fancy a cup of coffee? I’ll let you into a secret. I know where to get the best coffee in Pattaya.Go into Pattaya Tai (Pattaya South Road) and walk to Friendship supermarket. Cross the street and take a little soi opposite. When you get to the market, turn right and it’s about 50 metres on the right. As a tip, avoid Tuesdays and Fridays when the market is there, and the place is closed Saturday. So that cuts down your choices.

Benjamit Coffee in Soi Buakhao Market serves an amazingly good cup of coffee. Their website tells all about it. They mix their own blend, from a selection of beans from Chiang Mai, and imports, and then roast them in house. They grind it fresh and make wonderful coffee. The flavour is “to die for” and you can even smell the place as you approach. The price is right (no coffee over 60B and most around 40B). They are served with a glass of cold water and if you have an Americano, the milk is served hot (a bonus in coffee places).

The atmosphere is, well, homely. The staff are friendly and you’re made to feel welcome. Not just “another annoying customer”, as is the attitude in many places.

They also had their own in-house bakery. You can see it at the back. We think it’s no longer operational, but their bakery products are yummy and should be “home-made”.

If you compare the place to other coffee shops around, and especially the “chain” shops, it’s head and shoulders above. Friendly, hot coffee, gorgeous flavour, right price, not much more I can say. In the end it’s a coffee shop – but it’s the top of the line of coffee shops! Score on Nicky’s rating – a straight 10!

You can read all about them on their website (excuse the annoying sounds!) – www.benjamitcoffee.com
